Introducing the Klein Tools KTSTK6: The Toolkit That Solar Installers Asked For

In the fast-evolving world of solar installation, one thing remains constant, professionals need tools that work as hard as they do. That’s why Klein Tools have teamed up with leading voices in the industry to launch the KTSTK6 Solar Installer Professional Tool Kit, a purpose-built solution designed in collaboration with solar installers, for solar installers.

This isn’t just another toolkit. It’s the result of listening, learning, and co-creating with experts who know the job inside out, including Mark Allison from Power Sonic Electrical, a respected figure in the renewables sector and host of The Renewables Podcast. Mark’s insights helped shape a kit that tackles real-world challenges, prioritising safety, efficiency, and long-term value.

What makes the KTSTK6 different?

The KTSTK6 is built around what matters most to solar professionals:

  • Designed with installers, not just for them

The KTSTK6 was built from the ground up with direct input from UK solar installers. We didn’t just guess what installers might need; we asked them. The kit is built with tools you’ll actually use, no filler, no fluff, just high-performance tools that earn their place in your bag. Every tool in the kit was chosen because it solves a specific challenge faced on the job. From MC4® connector wrenches to precision wire strippers, each item plays a vital role in completing installations safely and efficiently.

  • Safety at height comes first

Solar installers work in demanding environments where safety isn’t negotiable, especially when working at height. That’s why the KTSTK6 includes a shock-absorbing tool lanyard, tested to ANSI/ISEA 121-2023 standards, helping prevent dropped tools and protecting both the installer and those below.

But we didn’t stop there. Unlike other kits that come in bulky hard cases, which can be awkward to handle on ladders or rooftops and pose a trip or drop hazard, the KTSTK6 features a rugged, dual-compartment zipper pouch. It’s compact, water-resistant, and designed to stand upright for easy access, making it a safer and more practical choice for rooftop work.

  • Built to last, built for the jobsite

Quality is non-negotiable when your tools are in daily use. That’s why every component in the KTSTK6 reflects Klein Tools’ commitment to durability and performance. Whether you're cutting cable, crimping connectors, or stripping wires, these tools are engineered to deliver consistent results day in, day out.

  • Exceptional Value

We know that value isn’t about how many tools you get, it’s about how many you actually use. Every tool in the KTSTK6 earns its place, helping professionals work faster, safer, and with greater confidence. It is a really good value for money, smart investment for installers who want quality without compromise.

Supporting the industry - A121 Training Academy

Klein Tools is proud to support a new training academy “A121 Training”, led by Mark Allison, by donating KTSTK6 Solar Kits to help equip trainees with the tools they need to succeed.

A121 Training was created to deliver hands-on learning that mirrors the realities of the jobsite. Whether you're entering the industry or upskilling your team, this academy ensures professionals are equipped with the right tools, the right knowledge, and the confidence to deliver.

Training is accredited by EAL, giving participants the credentials to design, install, and commission solar systems to industry standards. Courses are delivered by sector-leading installers with deep, real-world experience, ensuring trainees gain hands-on experience through real-world roof installations.

The programme covers a wide range of roof types, including slate, concrete tile, flat, and in-roof systems, and participants work with multiple inverter brands and battery systems, building knowledge of the technologies driving the future of solar. And starting this October, A121 Training will offer free training for lecturers across the UK, supported by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the European Social Fund (ESF).
